Join Luca for a one hour portrait drawing session with model Matt, working with a sculptural, mass first approach on black paper. We&rsquo;ll begin by blocking in the head silhouette and brow line, using the dark paper itself to hold the shadows while building the light shapes to describe the form. Features are developed gradually from the main landmarks, with the eyes treated as simple spheres and the likeness checked as the drawing progresses. An eraser is used as a drawing tool to move and soften edges, while grey and white pencils build the light planes and a black pencil is saved for a few crisp accents.

You will see one or more photographs to draw or paint from. Tutor Luca Indraccolo will be doing an online demonstration next to the video and will be giving hints and tips in the live chat.
