Poppy: An online figure drawing session

Join Tutor Lizet Dingemans for a one-hour figure drawing session of model Poppy, focusing on drawing the form and softness of human skin in colour, with special attention on how to draw tattoos in this back pose. You will learn to measure accurately, block in confidently, and build clear anatomical structure before developing light and shadow. Using pastel and coloured pencil, you’ll design strong shadow shapes, balance soft gradations with crisp overlaps, and integrate tattoos so they follow the body’s curvature without overwhelming the form.

Materials used:

• Pastel pencils: pure white, light beige, walnut brown

• Coloured pencil for tattoo lines (dark green recommended; dark blue or graphite also suitable)

• Eraser/rubber

• Soft blender or brush

This session mimics the structure of a traditional life drawing class. You will see one or more photographs to draw or paint from. Tutor Lizet Dingemans will be doing an online demonstration next to the video and will be giving hints and tips in the live chat.

Once you have registered you will be sent a link to a private web page where you will be able to access the live stream at the date and time of broadcast. You will also have access to the video for 30 days after the session, and will be able to download the photographs used in the session so you can continue to work in your own time.
