In this week’s FREE portrait session, tutor Luca Indraccolo will be working from a low-angle photograph of model Milli, and will demonstrate how to use cross-lines to create values and planes on mid grey paper.
Materials used: 2B and HB clutch pencils (Faber-Castell); 2 mm and HB 0.7 mm for finer details; white chalk pencil; Mono Zero pencil erasers; mid grey paper.

Join Tutor Luca and model Milli for this month&rsquo;s FREE one-hour portrait drawing demo. In this session you&rsquo;ll be working on mid grey paper, focusing on how to keep the portrait clear and readable through simple value grouping, edge control, and a strong light&ndash;shadow design.
Luca will demonstrate how to move from a light block in into broader masses, using the grey paper as a natural mid-tone so the lights and darks sit comfortably on the page. He&rsquo;ll also show how to use the eraser as a drawing tool to lift lights and refine shapes, finishing with subtle white chalk accents to bring the portrait together.

This session mimics the structure of a traditional life drawing class. You will see one or more photographs to draw or paint from. Tutor Luca Indraccolo will be doing an online demonstration next to the video and will be giving hints and tips in the live chat.
