Raw Umber Studios Image Reference Prize 2024

To celebrate our online image reference library, we’re offering cash prizes of £1500 (or the equivalent in your local currency), and a feature in an upcoming issue of Artists and Illustrators Magazine, for the best drawing or painting based on one of our image references.

We have over 2,200 photographic image references of portrait, figure, still life and landscapes; searchable by model type, pose type and more. A number of these are completely free, and the rest are available via a subscription.

All you need to do to enter is choose an image and produce a painting or drawing based on it, and submit it using this simple online form.

You can enter the competition as many times as you want. If you are a Raw Umber Image or Gold subscriber, you can use any image from our image library, not just the free ones.

There’s a cash prize of £1,000 for the painting we judge to be the best, and a £500 cash prize awarded by public vote. PLUS the winner will feature in an upcoming issue of Artists and Illustrators Magazine.
