Winner of the Raw Umber Studios Image Prize 2023 Announced

We had some 1,000 entrants from over 300 entrants, all based on images from our searchable image library. With so many high quality entrants, the Raw Umber Studios Image prize was incredibly hard to judge.
In fact, as well as choosing a winner for the £1,000 overall prize, we've decided to award a £500 public choice prize, chosen by you, the public. Simply go here and vote for one of the fifteen finalists.
After much deliberation, we have decided to award the £1,000 overall prize to Anna Stevens for her oil portrait of Robert:
We felt that Anna's picture had everything we were looking for. She has achieved a great likeness, and created a painted with tremendous emotional power.
Anna is a graphic designer with background in painting. She studied fine art at Winchester over 20 years ago. She's been working commercially since then, but she has always been drawn to portraiture.
Anna says "It’s been a real joy to work from the images in the Raw Umber Image Library. I’ve been looking for some good quality reference material to practice painting alla prima and this challenge was the perfect opportunity to get stuck in."
