The Winner of the Raw Umber Studios Paint Off 2025

In August 2025, ten amazing artists gathered at our studios in Stroud to paint a portrait from life. We're really pleased to announce that Phoebe Stewart Carter is this year's winner of the £2,500 cash prize and a feature in Artists and Illustrators magazine. Congratulations Phoebe!
Phoebe grew up in Gloucestershire, and trained with Nick Beer in Salisbury and then at the Florence Academy of Art, where she also taught. She has previously been awarded prizes for her portraiture by The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Art Renewal Center, and The Portrait Society of America.
