Sculpture with Sara Myers (Jun 2025)
This three-day workshop is perfect as both an introduction to sculpting with clay and a way of deepening your understanding of portraiture.
You will produce a life-sized head and neck from a live model. Along the way, you'll learn everything you need to know to create a sculpture, including:
- how to build an armature
- the anatomy of the human head with particular emphasis on how to look at the form and its individual features
- how to build the structure and apply the clay, bloocking in the large forms of the head
- refining and finishing the form, adding details to features
- how to prepare your finished sculpture for firing.*
Sara will tailor her tuition specifically according to your needs.
This course is suitable for beginners and advanced sculptors alike. Even if your practice is normally painting or drawing, this course can deepen your understanding of planes, anatomy and form and work in tandem with your usual practice.
Sara Myers is a classically trained freelance sculptor who has worked for, among others, Warner Bros and Madame Tussauds. She also has works in private collections around the world. To read more about Sara, check out her bio on the Society of Portrait Sculptors page.
