Zarima: An online figure drawing session

Happy New Year! Welcome to this weeks one hour figure drawing demo with tutor Luca and model Zarima. In this session you’ll be working in red sanguine pencil on red/brown toned A4 paper, exploring how to keep the figure clear and expressive using simple value grouping, edge control, and strong light–shadow design.

Luca will also show how to move from a light block in into broader masses, using the toned paper as a mid value so the lights and darks sit naturally on the page. You’ll also see how the eraser can be used as a drawing tool to lift lights and refine shapes, with the drawing brought together through subtle accents and careful simplification. 

Materials:

• Red sanguine pencil

• Red/brown toned A4 paper

• Tombow Mono Zero eraser

• Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser

This session mimics the structure of a traditional life drawing class. You will see one or more photographs to draw or paint from. Tutor Luca Indraccolo will be doing an online demonstration next to the video and will be giving hints and tips in the live chat.

Once you have registered you will be sent a link to a private web page where you will be able to access the live stream at the date and time of broadcast. You will also have access to the video for 30 days after the session, and will be able to download the photographs used in the session so you can continue to work in your own time.
