Irina: An online figure drawing session

Join Lizet and model Irina for a one hour figure drawing demo focused on setting the scene through light and dark. Lizet will begin by placing the pose with simple comparative measurements and a straight line envelope, using intersecting angles to establish rhythm and composition. From there, she blocks in clear masses of light and shadow to place the figure in space and draw the eye to the right areas of the drawing.

You’ll look closely at edgework throughout the session, especially how lost and found edges can be used to guide the viewer’s eye and keep the image readable without overworking it. Lizet will also demonstrate softening edges where the form turns, sharpening key overlaps, and adding darker accents sparingly,  particularly around the hands, ribcage and face so the figure feels solid while the overall impression stays light and unified.

This session mimics the structure of a traditional life drawing class. You will see one or more photographs to draw or paint from. Tutor Lizet Dingemans will be doing an online demonstration next to the video and will be giving hints and tips in the live chat.

Once you have registered you will be sent a link to a private web page where you will be able to access the live stream at the date and time of broadcast. You will also have access to the video for 30 days after the session, and will be able to download the photographs used in the session so you can continue to work in your own time.
