Join tutor and artist Lizet Dingemans and learn to draw the portrait in charcoal!
In this weekend class, you will learn everything you need to know about drawing the portrait, from structure, shapes, and measuring to finishing, rendering and final touches. You will learn how to use charcoal and chalk, using the same techniques we implement in our online portrait courses.
You will draw 1 portrait each day and Lizet Dingemans will assist you, from building up the structure of the portrait all the way to the finished drawing. We will cover measuring, the structure and planes of the face and how to finish the drawing using techniques like line weight and edgework.
Portrait drawing is a perfect stepping stone towards portrait painting, because you can focus on values and edges without the complexity of oil paints. It’s also a fascinating medium in itself!
You can expect to come away from this course with two finished drawings and a wealth of knowledge. Under Lizet’s guidance, you will gain the confidence and skills you need to carry on your journey as an artist.
