Jess: An online portrait drawing session

Join Luca for a 1- hour portrait drawing session with model Jess, focusing on bringing more movement and vitality into a mostly front facing head. You’ll begin with loose construction lines and tilted axes to create a sense of movement, then gradually build the portrait from simple shadow shapes into clearer masses and forms. The session looks at how values and edges can push and pull the features, helping guide the eye while keeping the portrait natural and alive. Hair and clothing are kept broad and simple, with selective dark accents and highlights used to bring focus and balance to the drawing.

Materials used:

• Grey toned paper
• Graphite pencils from 3B to harder grades
• Plastic eraser
• Tombow Mono Zero eraser
• White pencil 

High quality images, great lighting and tuition from a professional artist mean this is a great way to hone your skills.

This session mimics the structure of a traditional life drawing class. You will see one or more photographs to draw or paint from. Tutor Luca Indraccolo will be doing an online demonstration next to the video and will be giving hints and tips in the live chat.

Once you have registered you will be sent a link to a private web page where you will be able to access the live stream at the date and time of broadcast. You will also have access to the video for 30 days after the session, and will be able to download the photographs used in the session so you can continue to work in your own time.
